In which cases should you give Bach Flower Remedies to your animal?
- Always that you observe that the animal has an emotional problem that is reflected in an undesired behavior.
- As a support or aid to any physical complaints. Like it happens with human babies, animals cannot communicate in words their feelings and sensations. For this reason, first is important that we learn if the animal has a physical illness that is causing to behave strangely or differently than usual. In case there is a disease or physical reason, the emotions associated with the pain or physical trauma can be treated with Bach Flower Therapy. In this case, the Rescue Remedy is the first general remedy formula recommended.
- Animals also have personalities and those can be treated with Bach Flower Remedies. Those are seen more as a type of personality that corresponds to a particular quality of a flower essence. Character traits in animals are somewhat harder to cure. In this case, it will be more effective treatment in a long term basis. It is very interesting to notice that sometimes animals often need the same flower remedies as their owners and they tend to imitate the behavior of people or they seem to take over their attitudes and personality traits.
- Veterinary care may be necessary where there are medical conditions or injuries that need diagnosis and treatment. Please, be cautious about wrongly associate flower remedies with specific physical disorders. They may lead you to give inappropriate help and delay necessary veterinary intervention.
What are the applications? Depression, apathy, lack of interest in usual activities (eating, relatating, going out for a walk, etc.) · After a trauma or shock, either physical or emotional · After an accident · Adjustment to a new environment (relocation) or style of living · When separating them from their mother, child, owner, pet friend, partner or other · After being subjected to any form of abuse for a long time · During a time of sickness, pregnancy, or post-surgery.
Because animals cannot communicate with words, so animals respond well to Bach Flower Therapy. According to Dietmar Krämer in his book "New Bach Flower Therapies" he explains to us that one must rely entirely on observation, which requires sensitivity and diagnostic ability. If for example, a dog acts crazy since the owner got a second pet, jealousy is likely the cause. In this regard, we should consider the flower essence Holly to treat the jealousy. If the animal has stopped eating since he was clawed by the neighbor’s cat, one can use Star of Bethlehem to help the animal overcome the aftermath. If the animal tucks its tail between its legs even when sees smaller dogs, Larch can strengthen the animal self-esteem.
How to administrate the Bach Flower Remedies to an animal?
Dr. Edward Bach has taught us with his work with animals that their personality trait or temperamental attitude can be treated and so like it happens with humans can be treated accordingly with one or more of the 38 flower remedies (e.g. aggressiveness, lethargy, timidity, jealousy, etc.) As the treatment of animals requires some experience in Bach Flower Therapy, Dietmar Krämer suggests us Rescue Remedy drops for first trials. Most of the acute symptoms occur as a result of external influences, so emergency drops is a universal remedy that rarely fails to have an effect.
Knowing that the Bach flower system is a gentle and complementary one, you will never do any harm. In this sense, the dosage is the same as for people (in a mixing bottle - 1 drop of mother essence for 10ml of water) or you can dilute as many drops needed of the mother essence directly in a bowl of water or a dilution can also be sprinkled over its food. In the case of the water, a regular bowl or bucket of water, for e.g. 7 drops would suffice (in the approximate proportion of 10 drops per gallon or 4 drops on a cube of sugar might be appropriate for some animals).
The safest practice would be to minimize the alcohol content, especially when these are used for birds or other small animals. Some remedy makers, like Creature Comforters ® in England, use alcohol-free remedies. In this case, when you are doing your own mother essences or remedy formulas, the alcohol can be exchanged by Apple Cider Vinegar or Glycerin. The recommended way is to dilute the remedies in a mixing bottle and giving the diluted drops on a treat or at the usual water that the animal drinks.

Bach Remedies for Plants
What Bach Flower Remedies should I give to plants?
It is well known that plants seem to also have feelings and they are sensitive to different stressors. For example, plants enjoy that you look at them and/or sing to them (transferring your good energy). If you play nice music in the room where they are, they might grow faster and better than if you yell at them or abuse them in any way. When plants are sick, many times the cause of their problems can be emotional, therefore they can be treated with Bach Flower Remedies. The Bach Flower Remedies can be used in potted plants, gardens and also in crops and fields.
The treatment for sickness in plants is commonly made with the Rescue Remedy. For emotional aspects, it is necessary to identify what is the main problem the plant has and apply the necessary remedies. For adjustment to changes, Walnut can be given. After pruning the plants, or after the branches or leaves have been broken, Star of Bethlehem can help to aid any trauma or shock. Dr. Julian Barnard recommends Hornbeam, Olive, and Vine. Hornbeam provides resistance, Olive gives vitality and restores the plant, and Vine helps break the seed and facilitates emerging the new outbreaks of the vine.
Only dropped flowers and brown or dropped leaves indicate that something is missing for the plant. If these problems occur after repotting, one can give Walnut as the flower for a new beginning or Star of Bethlehem for shock. If the plant was also relocated, one could also consider Walnut. If it does not get along in its new surroundings, Honeysuckle also could be considered for possible homesickness.
Some plants can "feel offended" after repotting, if they are no longer the center of attention and therefore receive less affection. In those cases Heather is the flower of choice. If problems start to occur after one forgets to water the plant, one should think of Star of Bethlehem, the flower for shock, or Rock Rose, for the potential fear of death. If the plant does not recuperate, Wild Rose should be chosen for resignation. And Crab Apple should be very helful against bugs of all kinds.
How I should apply the remedies to the plants?
Houseplants respond very well to Bach Flower Therapy. Simply put the Bach Flower Remedies that apply in the water that you will use to water the plants. Add 2 drops directly from the stock bottle to a bucket of water, or 10 drops if it is Rescue Remedy. This water may also be sprayed with spray to the leaves, especially if they have fungus or pests.
